Device readiness checklist
Open WalkAway → Settings → Device Readiness and resolve every available item.
Notifications
Allow alerts and sounds. On iOS, enable Time Sensitive notifications when available.
Camera & microphone
Camera is required for visual challenges; microphone and Speech Recognition are required for voice.
Volume & Focus
Turn media/alarm volume up and verify Focus, Do Not Disturb, and Silent-mode behavior on your device.
Android reliability
Allow exact alarms, full-screen alerts, and battery optimization exemptions when your device offers them.
Test the challenge
Use Simulate Ringing before bedtime to verify placement, lighting, phrase, movement, and fallback access.
Keep a backup
Do not rely solely on any phone app for medical, travel, safety-critical, or irreversible commitments.

Will WalkAway ring through Silent or Focus mode?
On supported and authorized iOS versions, WalkAway uses AlarmKit. Otherwise it uses time-sensitive local notifications. Android uses alarm-category notifications and exact-alarm capabilities where the device permits them. Always run Device Readiness and keep a backup for safety-critical wake-ups.
Does WalkAway upload camera or microphone data?
No. Camera frames used for QR, object, movement, and presence checks are processed live. WalkAway does not record or upload them. Voice audio is not saved by WalkAway.
Can I sync alarms across devices?
No. WalkAway stores alarm and challenge data locally on each device. This is intentional for privacy and offline use.
What happens if my QR code or NFC tag is unavailable?
Test your target placement before relying on it. If a registered target becomes inaccessible, the Emergency Stop flow provides a deliberate fallback.
Can I recover deleted alarms?
WalkAway has no server-side copy. Device-level backups may restore app data, but deletion inside the app is otherwise permanent.
Why does the simulator show NFC as unsupported?
iOS and Android simulators do not emulate real NFC hardware. Test NFC registration and dismissal on a physical supported phone.
